The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday to allow Texas to require posters of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms.

A federal appeals court ruled Texas can require the Ten Commandments in classrooms, rejecting claims the law establishes religion or restricts personal beliefs.

"This is a major victory for Texas and our moral values," the state's Republican attorney general, Ken Paxton, said in a statement.
