Polarization is the process of aligning the vibrations of light (or other electromagnetic waves) to a single direction. Normally, light waves vibrate in multiple directions as they travel. But when light is polarized, those vibrations are limited to just one plane! This can occur naturally—like when sunlight scatters through the atmosphere—or artificially, using tools like polarized sunglasses, which reduce glare by blocking light waves not aligned with a specific orientation. #history #science
